Fall Trend Buying Guide: Velvet

Velvet Clothes

I don’t know about you but I am super excited that velvet is back, and in a big way! With so many options out there it can be overwhelming to give this trend a try. So, I’ve rounded up 12 great options to consider. The price points vary, but I focused more on versatile pieces that could be worn multiple ways and would not fall out of style quickly. I usually try not to combine two trends into one piece, such as velvet and large ruffle sleeves, because they’re more likely to have a shorter shelf life.

Also, it’s never to early to start thinking about outfits for the holidays (wink, wink), and all of these would make great options!

  1. Z Supply Crushed Velour V-Neck Tee – $45
I love crushed velour. I think it brings a more casual edge to a top that would otherwise be a bit too dressy for every day wear. This option has a super flattering neckline.
  2. Z Supply Lounge Velour Tank – $40
This is actually a pajama top, but I think it could easily do double-duty and work under a cardigan or denim top. I mean, doesn’t everyone want to wear pajamas all day?! I love the curved hem on this, and the fact that it has adjustable straps since I’m pretty petite.
  3. Z Supply Crushed Velour Tie Back Dress – $54
I already ordered this dress and am anxiously awaiting its arrival! I think it’s going to work perfect for a few events I have coming up. And did I mention it has POCKETS? I mean, does it get any better?
  4. H&M Velour Dress – $49.99
This is a more formal dress option. It’s a sleek and form-fitting silhouette, but it still looks oh so comfortable.
  5. H&M Velvet Skirt – $59.99
I love that this skirt is part of H&M’s Conscious line, meaning it’s made from sustainable materials. It doesn’t hurt that it looks amazing too! I’m loving the color and the front ruffle, and I think this would look so great paired with black tights, booties and a cropped chunky sweater.
  6. Madewell Velvet Button-Down Cami – $64.50 (30% off right now)
Everyone needs this color in their closet. It could easily work year-round, which is a huge bonus. The button front detail adds some fun and whimsy to what could otherwise be a pretty standard camisole.
  7. Target Velour Cami – $14.99
While I try not to buy clothes based on price alone, I am certainly not opposed to a good deal. And this tank top is a steal. Plus it has adjustable straps and a double layered bust if you want to go without a bra.
  8. Modcloth Cropped Velvet Pants – $79
I want these pants! They looks like glorified pajamas, but in a way where you’re still pulled together. It also has an elastic waistband to better accommodate all of those delicious holiday meals coming up!
  9. Old Navy Velvet Swing Dress – $28 – $32.99
Swing dresses are the epitome of comfort. They are feminine, flirty and hide any bloating that may come and go throughout the day. This option is a great price and comes with great color choices.
  10. LOFT Button Ruffle Shell – $54.50 (40% off + extra 10% off right now)
The color of this top is stunning, and the ruffle sleeve adds a feminine touch that doesn’t overwhelm the top. This would look great paired with a sleek pencil skirt or under a jumper dress.
  11. Ann Taylor Velvet Wrap Top – $79.50 (40% off + extra 10% off right now)
This top is stunning. The neckline is flattering but not too deep. It would be a perfect top for occasions where you want to dress up but stick with pants.
  12. Ann Taylor Velvet Dot Tie Neck Blouse – $79.50 (40% off right now)
If you’re a bit apprehensive to try the velvet trend, this top is a good place to start. It’s a classic silhouette that features black velvet polka dots all over.
