Who hasn’t opened their closet and felt completely overwhelmed? After trying on 10 different outfits you realize you don’t like anything you own. It either doesn’t fit, matches nothing, or is just plain ugly. Sound familiar? Yea, me too.

I have been intrigued by capsule wardrobes for a few years now, but have never been able to pull the trigger. I think I was afraid of committing to truly paring down my closet and reducing my shopping.

But now that I will be home with my little ones for the next year (we are all still adjusting to this new arrangement!), my mornings feel more time crunched than ever. I can barely sneak in a shower, let alone try on multiple outfits each morning. It’s finally time to roll up my sleeves, do the work and enjoy the benefit of a small but mighty wardrobe that will save me time and allow me to wear clothes I love and feel great in. Every. Single. Day.

I will be trying Project 333, created by Courtney Carver at bemorewithless and building a fall 2018 capsule wardrobe. Here are the rules:

  • When: Every three months
  • What: 33 items including clothing, accessories, jewelry, outerwear and shoes
  • What not: these items are not counted as part of the 33 items: wedding ring or another sentimental piece of jewelry that you never take off, underwear, sleep wear, in-home lounge wear, and workout clothing (you can only wear your workout clothing to workout)
  • How: Choose your 33 items, box up the remainder of your clothes, seal the box with tape and put it out of sight
  • What else: consider that you are creating a wardrobe that you can live, work and play in for three months

Stay tuned to see the results of my closet clean out!
